N. Garrison & Oerter, delint 1784. J. Spilsbury, Sculpt. There are three views of Bethlehem after drawings by Garrison. The first was issued in 1757, the second in 1761 and the third in 1784. This is an example of latter. Garrison's view is based upon his 1784 ink and wash original in the collection of the Moravian Archives. Garrison drew himself into this picture. He is shown in the lower left corner, seated upon a log with a dog at his feet, with a sketch pad and brush in his hands. With seventeen red ink manuscript keys added in the title margins with corresponding numbers written within the image. 18th-19th Century Subjects, Town Views - United States, Pennsylvania
