"In commissioning Smith to produce this pair of prints, Sanderson must have intended to convey as part of his message the quality of his hotels. Both prints show a street scene in Philadelphia... bustling with pedestrian and vehicular activity. Omnibuses, coaches, strollers, shoppers, workman and dogs fil the streets." Whol.
