DESCRIPTION: William Tweed, otherwise known as Boss Tweed, had been ousted in 1871, but the political and financial corruption he created during his time in Tammany Hall lingered for much longer. Nast refers to nation wide corruption in this cartoon by portraying Tweed like politicians as a money hungry vulture. The nest is filled with hatching money eggs, and is crafted from the bones of those who got in their way. In the distance are swarms of other vultures. They soar above a city, which appears to be a mash of Washington D.C. and other localities, where Nast has labeled building as areas of corruption. A few examples include Attorney General Office, Savings Bank, Capitol, City Hall Board of Aldermen, and Court of Justice.
