  • DESCRIPTION: Camp Oliver was located in the vicinity of New Bern, North Carolina. Union encampments popped up after the city was taken by General Burnside in March 1862.. Due to its location, New Bern was always in danger of Confederate attacks, so a number of regiments were stationed in and around the area.
