DESCRIPTION: Hanhart Imp. (Hanhart was a British lithographer) This image of Jackson is based on an 1851 daguerreotype of Brevet Major Thomas Jackson, U. S. Army, taken while on a visit to New York. During the Civil War, photographer Matthew Brady changed the original to show Jackson in a Civil War period uniform. Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson(1824-1863) Confederate General in the American Civil War and the best known commander after Robert E. Lee.
