DESCRIPTION: Quercus Suber: Chene Liege [Acorns] From Traite des Arbres et Arbustes by Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau, published in Paris, 1800–1825. Drawn by Pancrace Bessa, a disciple and associate of Pierre Joseph Redoute, the celebrated French flower painter. This finely engraved plate depicts the acorns of the cork oak (Quercus suber), a Mediterranean species valued both for its fruit and for the thick, rugged bark harvested as cork.
