The image shows three different locomotive engines made at the plant.<br><br> (Left) Built for Pittsburgh & Western R.R. Engine 108; (Center) P.R.R. Class 'L' (Consolidation.) built for the Pennsylvania R.R. Co. Engine 990; (Right) Built for Pittsburgh, McKesport & Youngiogheny R.R. Engine 152..<br><br> The Pittsburgh Locomotive Works was founded by Andrew Carnegie and T.N. Miller in Allegheny in 1867 and a railroad car and equipment builder. In the early 1870's under the direction of Daniel A. Wrightman they started to build locomotives until 1901. This image is likely one of the earliest produced of their locomotive output.
