  • ADDITIONAL INFO: As is a number of the very first plates there are variant states. This is the final or fourth state. The first two are engraved by Lizars alone. The last two are noted as being "Retouched by R. Havell, Junr." Havell added aquatint to the Lizars plates. In the very fourth state, the "z" in "Coccyzus" is reversed.

  • CONDITION: Good condition, will full original color. Soft horizontal crease not unusual for the first few plates in each volume. Occasional short tear in sheet edge.
