• DESCRIPTION: Published in "American Scenery: Or, Land, Lake and River Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature." Mount Desert Light is a historic lighthouse located on Mount Desert Rock, about 18 nautical miles south of Mount Desert Island in Maine. Established in 1830, the current conical granite structure, designed by architect Alexander Parris, was built in 1847. The structure build by Parris in 1847 is the lighthouse depicted in this engraving.
