  • DESCRIPTION: The Sun was a New York newspaper published from 1833 until 1950..It was one of the more important newspapers of the time. This broadsheet is a New Years day extra and sums up the news of the year world from around the world, giving brief accounts of the happenings of different nations and regions. On each side are flag staffs flying flags from from many diffrent nations. Of note, on the top of the flag pole on the left is the Lone Star flag of the then Republic of Texas. Above and below are wood cut illustrations of various patriotic images including Lady Justice and Lady Liberty, One quote from the United States description: Our political system in new, but it must stand, for it is founded on the eternal rock of truth - the equal rights of man... .
