This unusual locomotive broadside seems to advertise the rebuilders rather than the original builder. Michigan City is located in the northwestern portion of Indiana and was on the Louisville New Albany & Chicago R.R. line.

The locomotive depicted is a 4-4-0 and was the type produced in the early to mid-1850s.

In H. T. Peters "America on Stone" the lithography firm of J. Sage & Sons is noted as beginning in business in 1856-57 and its work is described by him as being “excellent”. This cataloger heartily agrees. A beautifully designed print.
