Piercy, a notable figure as Chaplain to the Countess of Huntingdon and President of Georgia College in North America, is shown with one arm raised, holding a Bible, symbolizing his religious role. Behind him, a dramatic backdrop of clouds and city rooftops adds depth and context to the scene. <br><br> The piece was published in London by Carington Bowles, a prominent publisher trained by his father, John Bowles. Carington inherited the family business and later operated independently, contributing significantly to 18th-century English print publishing.
