• DESCRIPTION: From the original drawing by Wm. Mason, in the possession of Charles N. Bancker Esqr. Drawn on stone by J. J. Barker. An early and unusual optical lithograph published in America. Optical prints became very popular in Europe in the late eighteenth century, with vue-optique prints and others. If you place your chin on the mark at the bottom, the image appears to stand right before you. It then gives the viewer a three- dimensional effect.
