  • DESCRIPTION: A fascinating folding map focusing on the Vietnam conflict. <br><br> This piece shows five maps. Two on one side, three on the other. Asia, an Economic map of Southeast Asia, a large map of Vietnam, and two smaller maps, one titled Freedom's Struggle in Asia and another untitled map that shows mountain ranges and rivers. The main map has a key which identifies Capitals, international boundaries, canals, railroads, roads, major airbases and U.S Marine and Army landings in 1965. The U.S. seventh fleet is shown offshore.<br><br> A numbered and lettered key notes cities and towns throughout the area shown.<br><br> Opposite to the title is a description of the Events Leading to Crisis, a chronology of the Vietnam Conflict Since 1945. The last wo events noted are in 1965. They are: July 28, President Johnson announces increase of American troops to 125,000. Aug. 29, Battle at Van Tuong, first major involvement of U.S. ground troops against Vietcong.<br><br> The cover shows two Army helicopters, The Piasecki H-21, aka, the flying banana. and UH 1B "Huey".<br><br>
