DESCRIPTION: This letterpress broadside from about 1870 advertised a steamer cruise to Nantasket Beach and a trip to the aquarium. The fare was 15 cents for a single trip and 25 cents for round trip tickets, which included free admission to the aquarium to see the beautiful mermaid, Miss Ada La Selle, and Capt. Beach, who were the main attractions at the aquarium then. The broadside states that the steamer connected directly with the Nantasket Beach Railroad, offering a "refreshing and novel excursion." The route passed close to Fort Winthrop, Fort Independence, Rainford's Island, Fort Warren, and the historic island Nis's Mate, concluding with a three-mile ride among the breakers. The steamer departed from 466 Atlantic Avenue and offered daily departure times.

Printed by F. A. Searle, 262 Washington Street, Journal Building.
