  • DESCRIPTION: album containing 43 figural sketches, most caricatures, many inscribed including a sporting scene "Three guns - One partridge - ho hit!!! - 3 pops/Jany 1827", various mediums, graphite, pen, and chalk, many on laid paper and tipped on album pages, This album was compiled by Lieutenant General Sir Henry Edward Bunbury containing character studies and humorous depictions of coaching, hunting, military, and domestic scenes drawn both by his father and himself. Sir Henry was a talented caricaturist of the same vein as his father, Henry William Bunbury—in addition to enjoying a successful career as professional military officer and later, member of Parliament and published historian.<br><br> Provenance: Ex collection Professor John Cabell Riely.
