  • DESCRIPTION: Travels Through the Interior Parts of America by Thomas Anburey, published by William Lane, London, 1789.<BR><BR> Anburey was an officer under General Burgoyne during the Revolutionary War and was captured at Saratoga. He was later shipped to Virginia, and his account, including his march to detention, was written in the form of seventy-nine letters. <BR><BR> During the Revolutionary War, Fort Saint-Jean (St. John's) on the west bank of the Richelieu River, strategically important for defending Montreal and Quebec, faced an American siege in 1775, ultimately leading to its capture after a 45-day siege.
