DESCRIPTION: A rare proof impression of the 7th President of the United States.<br><br> When found with the printed information the imprint would read: Engraved by Thomas B. Welch from the original portrait by Thomas Sully in the possession of Francis Preston Blair..<br><br> Sully painted this likeness of Jackson in 1824, although he did not execute a completed oil on canvas until 1845. Scully had given Jackson a sketched copy of this portrait, who in turn had given it to Francis Preston Blair, an American journalist, newspaper editor, and influential figure in national politics advising several U.S. presidents across party lines, and a big supporter of Jackson.<br><br> Sully's likeness was used on the twenty dollar bill.

CONDITION: Good condition save for one fox mark in the upper right and a damp stain in the lower right, just inside of the plate mark.
