Bound in deep red leather, gold tooled, raised spine, decorative endpapers, 8vo. (10 1/2 x 7") The Birds of America, in seven volumes, contains 500 handcolored lithographic plates after John James Audubon by W. E. Hitchcock and R. Trembly and others printed by J. T. Bowen, Philadelphia or George Endicott, New York. Also included in the text are numerous wood engravings of anatomical figures. The plates are bound with the text, which is modified from the Havell edition text volume.<br><br> Quadrupeds of North America, in three volumes, contains 155 handcolored lithographic plates after John James Audubon and John Woodhouse Audubon by R. Trembly, W. E. Hitchcock and others, printed by J. T. Bowen, Philadelphia, and Nagel & Weingartner, New York. Text is by John James Audubon and Rev. John Bachman.
