This portrait of O-Hedidee (also known as Hitihiti), a young man of Bolabala (Bora Bora), is based on a life drawing by the expedition’s artist, William Hodges, and engraved by Robert Benard. O-Hedidee was one of the most important Pacific companions of the voyage, joining the HMS Resolution in September 1773 and serving as an interpreter and guide across Tonga, New Zealand, Easter Island, and the Marquesas
