  • DESCRIPTION: <b>An unusual and likely unique decoupage of separate maps, a view, the stars and stripes, a soldier and other patriotic images. Possibly a advertisement for vendors of Magnus's letter sheets</b><br><br> The central image shows a birds eye perspective of United States Capitol building with Alexandria, Arlington Heights and Georgetown shown in the distance. Directly to the left of the Capitol dome is the Washington Monument shown in its original planed configuration.<br><br> Below that is a map of the Chesapeake Bay shown from Delaware to the North Carolina border. It includes the towns of Havre de Grace, Baltimore, Annapolis, Washington, Fredericksburg, Richmond and Norfolk.<br><br> On the left is a map of Pensacola Bay in Florida, focusing on the Navy Yard. Within this map is an inset map of the South Eastern United States.<br><br> On the right is a map of Charleston and Charleston Harbor showing Forts Sumpter, Johnson and Moultrie. Of interest, a vignette illustration within the map shows the action of Sargent Peter Hart at Fort Sumpter, the first major battle of the War. During the bombardment, the flag was shot away, Hart climbed up the flag staff with a hammer and nailed the flag to it.<br>
