• DESCRIPTION: A fine and early engraved portrait of Philadelphia and Elizabeth Wharton, the only daughters of Philip, 4th Baron Wharton, after the composition by Sir Anthony van Dyck. The Wharton family was among the leading noble families of England and later lent its name to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania through the philanthropy of descendant Joseph Wharton. Engraved in 1714 by Pieter van Gunst, this is a first state impression.
