DESCRIPTION: A beautiful early 18th century view of Constantinople, now known as Istanbul. The city is shown from Scutari which is across the Bosphorus Scheck derived the view from Matthaus Merian's famous view of the city.<br><br> This view appeared in Schenk's "Hecatompolis" or "Book of Town Views." This impression has the number "3" in the lower right margin, making in the 2nd state which appeared in "Afbeeldinge van een-Hondert der Voornaamste en sterkste Sleeden in Europa", published by J. Roman, Amsterdam, 1752.<br>
