• DESCRIPTION: A fine engraving from Marcus Elieser Bloch's "Ichthyologie ou Histoire Naturelle Generale et Particuliere des Poissons--" According to Buchanan, "the most famous and certainly the most remarkable of all fish books." When complete, this publication contained over 200 plates, each engraved on copper and then colored by hand. The German edition was published in Berlin from 1782 to 1795, the French edition from 1785 - 1797.
