DESCRIPTION: A handsome print after a portrait by Charles Willson Peale, immortalizing the great American military leader Nathanael Greene. Presented in the French style, showing the symbolic trophies of victory. This allegorical image, depicting a bust portrait of Greene in an oval frame, held up by two male figures, a scholar and a Roman soldier, and a cherub holding two laurel crowns. Greene was a controversial Revolutionary War hero who led costly battles to defend New York City.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Handsomely framed in a black molding with gilt liner.
