  • DESCRIPTION: Line engraving by Jacob Houbraken, Dutch, 1698-1780, after Hans Holbein the Younger, German, 1497-1543. King Henry VIII had six wives of which two were beheaded, (Ann Bullen and Catherine Howard), two were divorced (Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves), one died (Jane Seymour) and one survived (Catherine Parr). This engraving is from Thomas Birch's "Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain" and is dated 1750.
