DESCRIPTION: The full text reads: "Mr. Edward Spencer, born May 8th, 1799, accompanied Mr. Charles Green in the fatal parachute experiment of Mr. Robert Cocking on July 24th, 1837, from Vauxhall Gardens. He has made twenty-seven ascents with Mr. Green up to this date, August 24th, 1839."<br><br> In this lithograph, Cocking's doomed parachute is seen in the background, dangling beneath Green's balloon moments before it was released, leading to Cocking's tragic fall to his death.
