  • DESCRIPTION: A matched pair of allegorical mezzotint engravings. Peace Raising Commerce depicts the goddess of Peace lifting the goddess of Commerce. Background details show a laid up warship and the dismantling of a cannon. In the sky, a cherub, laurel branch in one hand and the other holds a flag with the quote, "Glory in Heaven & Peace on Earth". Plenty United with Commerce depicts the two figures arm in arm, Commerce beckoning towards the sea and Plenty holding an overflowing cornucopia. Above them, a cherub holds a banner with the quote "Friendship & Commerce all over the World."

  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Framed in matching genuine antique eighteenth-century black moldings.

  • CONDITION: Good condition. Original hand coloring with some modern additions.
