Pieter Cramer (1721-c.1779) was a Dutch wool merchant and entomologist. He assembled an extensive collection on insects that included butterflies, moths and insects. He hired Gerrit Wartenaar Lambertz to make drawings of his collection that he then had engraved and published. The resulting work was titled “Papillons Exotiques des Trois parties du Monde: l'Asie, l'Afrique et l'Amerique” or the Exotic Butterflies from three parts of the World: Asia, Africa and America.
