  • DESCRIPTION: Striking lithograph by Mandret after an 1812 painting by Horace Vernet. Tamerlan was a stallion imported from Persia, then owned by Emperor Napoleon I. He was one of the progenitors of the Arabian horse line in the West. Vernet's painting shows the horse with his trainer in a desert setting.
