Aquatint engraving by Martens after Karl Bodmer. Vignette 1, from the atlas to the journal of Prince Maximilian of Wied, "Reise in das Innere Nord-America in den Jahren 1832 bis 1834," ("Travels in the Interior of North America"), 1839-41. This lovely Boston harbor scene was painted by Bodmer as their party arrived to begin their famous overland trek into the American West.

This impression is a true 1st stated with English title only. Only 100 examples were printed before being updated with the addition of German and French titles. With Bodmer blind stamp in the lower margin.
