DESCRIPTION: Titled in German. John Wilkes Booth left his mark in history for assassinating President Lincoln at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865. He and fellow conspirator, David Herold, fled the city afterwards but were ultimately found by the 16th New York Cavalry at a farm near Bowling Green, Virginia. Herold quickly surrendered. Booth refused, even when the barn he was hiding in was set ablaze. Sergeant Boston Corbett shot and mortally wounded Booth, who died of his injuries a few hours later.
