  • DESCRIPTION: Thomas Sydenham (1624–1689) was English physician and author of "Observationes Medicae," a medical textbook that was used for two centuries. He is considered the founder of clinical medicine and epidemiology (the study of how diseases spread) and is often refereed to as “The English Hippocrates.” He is also the man who named Scarlet Fever after discovering its differences from measles.
