Morris A. Blackburn

Morris Atkinson Blackburn was an American painter, printmaker, muralist and teacher, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He initially studied architecture drawing before pivoting towards the graphic arts in the 1920s, and became a teacher at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art in 1932. He later went on to teach at the Tyler School of Art and then the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Of all his achievements, Blackburn is perhaps best remembered for being a pioneer in the silkscreen printing medium.
