Signed and dated lower left "Fred. S. Cozzens 09." This scene depicts the yachts, "Nutmeg" and "Crescent," in the "race round Long Island" which took place in 1909. The winning yacht, Nutmeg, was owned and sailed in this race by A. C. Jones of Boston. The race started at the Atlantic Yacht Club in Gravesend, Brooklyn, and ended off the New Rochelle Yacht Club. Montauk Point is in the background. Signed and dated lower left "Fred. S.
