A scarce satirical print showing a cabinet of natural history, consisting of several animals with human heads displayed on a shelf and on the wall; each is identified by a label bearing a mock Latin name; the heads are caricatures of French politicians of the time. The artist Jean Ignace Isidore Gerard, aka J. J. Grandville, was one of the first French caricaturist to portray the political theatre. It is likely that he was an influence on Honore Daumier.
