DESCRIPTION: Ch.Ph.invt. H.D.lith; Chez Aubert, gal.véro dodat; Imp.d'Aubert et de Junca. Clinique du Docteur Robert-Macaire. Caricaturana is a series of 100 lithographs, numbered 1-100. They first appeared in Le Charivari between 1836 and 1838. They also were sold in a bound album format with the title "Les Robert Macaires." Each image was printed on heavy wove paper and was offered uncolored for 45 francs and hand colored for 55 francs. Text below title reads, "He bien! Messieurs, vous l’avez vu, cette operation qu’on disait impossible a parfaitement réussi…. – Mais, monsieur, la malade est mort… - Qu’importe! Elle serait bien plus morte sans l’operation." <br><br>Translation: "There you are gentlemen, the surgery I performed was a full success, while everybody considered it to be impossible. -- But doctor, the patient is dead! -- So what, she would have died sooner or later anyway."
