  • DESCRIPTION: This 1865 lithograph documents the second Masonic Temple built at the corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets, a site central to Boston's fraternal and architectural history. Designed to replace a previous structure lost to fire, this Gothic Revival building featured the elaborate stonework and symbolic detailing characteristic of mid-19th-century Masonic influence. The print serves as a rare visual record of this specific iteration of the Temple, as it was also ultimately destroyed by a fire in 1895 before the construction of the current 1902 landmark.
