He is noted for his four large history paintings in the United States Capitol Rotunda, which depict pivotal moments before, during and after the Revolutionary War<br><br> Birmingham-based Whitworth and Yates operated in the last quarter of the eighteenth century. They produced coins and medals, as well as prints. Originally Yates and Whitworth, they became Whitworth and Yates in 1777.<br><br> In the "Catalog of the Engraved Portraits of Washington" by Charles Henry Hart, he describes that he has not seen an early impression of the print and believed that all the known imprints are "modern" (early 20th century). This print is printed on a sheet of laid paper with a "W. Tucker & Son" watermark. This cataloger feels that it is likely a early 20th century impression. .
